[edit] Introduction
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Nachhaltiges Bauen (DGNB e.V.) is the German name for the German Sustainable Building Council (or DGNB). With more than 1,200 members, it is the largest network for sustainable buildings in Europe.
Members come from the fields of architecture, engineering and construction, with representation from related professions. This includes consultants, project managers, development managers, investors, building contractors and the providers of building services. Representatives also come from local authorities, trade associations, product design and development and other sectors.
[edit] History
The DGNB was founded as a non-profit organisation in June 2007. Its work includes the development of the DGNB certification system, which was introduced in 2009. The DGNB system is recognised by some organisations as the Global Benchmark for Sustainability.
DGNB is also the official German representative on the World Green Building Council.
